Google Mobile app for iPhone is out

apple tried to fool m by waiting till i left side the area, but i’m on to their crafty ways. it was, in actually, i who fooled them by pretending to give up hope of a monday pass out — and thus coaxing them to provide it.

It’s not showing up yet if you ask it to search for updates to your apps, but you can download the new Google iPhone app here.

I’ve only been playing with it for a few minutes, but the voice recognition works pretty well and pretty quickly. It got four of the first five queries I made exactly right, though it did make two errors in the last one.

I tried to look up who played Fish in the TV show Fish. I knew it was Abe Someone, so I said Fish, Abe, TV and it searched Wish, Gabe, TV. Not perfect, but much better than typing.

Update: The screen that pops up if you follow the link appears to offer the old Google app. Ignore the visuals and download away. You’ll get the new app.
